Eight first steps. Each one ends with a document you keep.

Every service is a step on the same path: screen, test, specify, treat, verify. Start at the step that fits where your site is today, and stop after any of them. Not sure which? Choose your situation on the home page and the first step is chosen for you.

A PFAS soil job in Australia involves an environmental consultant, a certified site contamination practitioner, a NATA-accredited laboratory, a contractor and an independent auditor, and the owner is usually left to coordinate them. We take that coordination on, keep the audit independent, and give you one person to call. The criterion each step is measured against is set by your state or territory regulator; the instruments are listed here, state by state.

For site owners and receivers

Desk screen

Available now

The soil is stockpiled and you have a classification letter, or stockpiles on your site could be treated and reused.

What we do
We read your consultant's report and check tonnes, soil type, total PFAS concentrations and leachate results against the criterion that applies. We tell you whether treatment could change the classification and what it might save against your current disposal quote. If it would not help, we say so.
What you receive
A one-page screen with a recommendation, within one working day of receiving the reports.
What we need from you
The classification letter, laboratory reports, tonnage and your current disposal quote.
Who is involved
Your point of contact, with our environmental chemist where the data calls for it.

For site owners

Characterisation plan

By arrangement

The soil is stockpiled but has not been characterised.

What we do
We work with your consultant on a sampling plan that collects the data a treatment decision needs, including leachate testing by a NATA-accredited laboratory.
What you receive
A sampling scope your consultant can adopt, followed by a desk screen when the results arrive.
What we need from you
A site plan, stockpile volumes and any earlier investigation reports.
Who is involved
Your consultant, our environmental chemist and a NATA-accredited laboratory.

For site owners

In-place suitability

In development

The soil is still in the ground.

What we do
Our in-place treatment is in development. We can check your site now against the conditions it would need and tell you plainly whether it is a candidate.
What you receive
A suitability screen and, where the site fits, an invitation to take part as a monitored pilot site.
What we need from you
Site investigation reports, soil logs and groundwater depths.
Who is involved
Our engineering team and environmental chemist.

For consultants and auditors

Treatability test

By arrangement

You need treatability evidence on this soil.

What we do
We test candidate treatments, including activated carbon sorbents, on a sample of the site's own soil, alongside untreated controls, and report paired before-and-after results from a NATA-accredited laboratory.
What you receive
A treatability report with the method, the laboratory certificates and a recommendation, within three weeks of the sample arriving.
What we need from you
A representative soil sample (we advise the quantity) and the existing site data.
Who is involved
Our environmental chemist, a NATA-accredited laboratory and your consultant.

For consultants and auditors

Treatment specification

By arrangement

You need a treatment specification to review, adopt or put to tender.

What we do
We set out the treatment, dose, mixing method, hold time and validation sampling plan, written for review by the certified practitioner on the job.
What you receive
A specification you can adopt, amend or put to tender.
What we need from you
Treatability results, site constraints and the endpoint criteria.
Who is involved
Our environmental chemist and engineers, with review and sign-off by the certified site contamination practitioner on your job.

For consultants and auditors

Verification pack

By arrangement

You need verification records for the audit.

What we do
We record what was done to each batch: material certificates, dose, mixing records, sampling locations and chain of custody, together with paired laboratory results.
What you receive
A treatment record an auditor can rely on. The audit itself stays independent of us.
What we need from you
The audit scope and the acceptance criteria.
Who is involved
Our quality reviewer on site, batch by batch; the records go to your consultant and to the auditor you appoint.

For receivers, utilities and site owners

Water and leachate

By arrangement

Water or leachate has to meet a discharge or reuse criterion.

What we do
We read your monitoring data against the criterion that applies, compare the treatment options on performance and on cost, and write the specification for the one that fits.
What you receive
A screen of the data and, where treatment is needed, a specification your contractor can price and build, with the validation sampling written in.
What we need from you
Monitoring results, flow rates and the discharge or reuse criterion you have to meet.
Who is involved
Our environmental chemist and engineers, a NATA-accredited laboratory, and the specialist contractor who carries out the works.

For landfills and resource recovery sites

Removal pilot

Pilot sites sought

Over-threshold soil needs treatment before placement.

What we do
Our process for removing PFAS from over-threshold soil is in development. We are looking for receivers with suitable material to host a monitored pilot.
What you receive
Pilot terms, a mass balance for the material treated and NATA-accredited results.
What we need from you
A description of the material, volumes and your current acceptance criteria.
Who is involved
Our engineering team and environmental chemist, a NATA-accredited laboratory and your operations team.

Treatments we specify

Bound or removed, stated plainly

Two treatments for soil, each named for what it does to the PFAS; the treatability test decides which one, if either, suits your material. For water and leachate, the treatment options are compared on your monitoring data and on cost, and specified for your contractor.

Binding with activated carbon

By arrangement

An activated carbon sorbent is blended through the soil to bring leachable PFAS below the criterion that applies, so that the soil can be reused or placed at a lower classification. The sorbent, its dose and its supplier are chosen on your soil's treatability result and on cost. The PFAS stays in the soil: we report it as bound, never as removed.

Removal from over-threshold soil

Pilot sites sought

Our process for removing PFAS from soil is in development, with receivers sought to host a monitored pilot. We claim removal only where a mass balance and NATA-accredited results show it.

No product to sell

We hold no stake in any treatment product. Candidate treatments are compared on your soil for performance and for cost, and the specification names the one that meets the criterion at the least cost to you. Every delivery's certificate of conformance follows the material into the treatment record your consultant and auditor receive.

Chosen on your soil
No sorbent is specified without a treatability result on the site's own material.
Compared on cost
You see the candidates side by side, with what each would cost per tonne.
Certified into the record
Material certificates for every delivery go into the verification pack.

Fees and times

Stated before we start

You will know the fee and the time for a step before you commit to it, and you can stop after any step with the document in hand.

The screen

A one-page desk screen of reports you already hold comes back within one working day. The written site screen follows within five working days of the call, at a fixed fee quoted before we start.

The treatability test

Quoted once we know the soil and the number of candidate treatments. The result is reported within three weeks of your sample arriving, with the laboratory certificates attached.

Specification, works and verification

Priced per tonne of soil treated, set after the treatability test, with treatment materials quoted separately at supplier cost. The works themselves are carried out by local contractors under our specification and our checks on site.

If a step would not help your site, we say so at the screen, and the job stops there.
